Wind Surfing the Space Coast
|
|
|
The
Space Coast runs north to south for about 70
miles and through its entire length runs the
Indian River Lagoon. Also contained within
the Space Coast and connected to the Indian
River Lagoon is the Banana River. Both of
these are wide open water bodies surrounded
by an open low lying topography, providing
full exposure to prevailing wind conditions
coming primarily off the ocean and also
great windsurfing conditions. There are also
about 70 miles of Atlantic Beachfront and
numerous access points. Refer to the
Surfing page for these
locations. |

fishing, water sports, sunbathing and
shuttle viewing. Recreational amenities
include picnic shelters, restrooms,

paved parking for 46 cars and 47 boat
trailer spaces. Just east of the Marine
Patrol Station is a section of accessible
beach running the length of the causeway on
both sides. The North side of this section
of the causeway is extremely popular site
for windsurfing with over 100 yards of
natural beach launching. Unpaved parking for
the river shoreline accommodates 100

with your equipment from vehicle to water is
a few feet. During windy conditions this is
an extremely popular spot.
